Where and when is the event being held?

The event is being held at theBest Western Premier Prestige Oceanfront Resort, located at 6929 West Coast Road, Sooke, B.C. The event runs from Wednesday, March 25 (8:00 am – 4:30 PM) to Thursday, March 26, 2015 (8:00 AM- 4:30 PM).

Who is hosting the event?

The event is being hosted by the T’Sou-ke  Nation.

CopperMoon Communications is coordinating the event registration and logistics in cooperation with the T’Sou-ke Nation.

Does the event have a registration fee?

The event is free to attend but registration is mandatory. To register, please go to: tsouke.com/registration-form

Who is this event for?

This event is for representatives of the First Nation communities throughout Vancouver Island.

How will the workshops work?

Over the course of the two-day event you will attend three different
workshops on the following topics: Marine Tanker and Traffic Safety;
Habitat Restoration and Protection; and West Coast Energy
Infrastructure and Job Readiness. During each workshop session you
will have five different 30-min roundtable discussions with subject
area experts and a small number of other participants. This
arrangement was designed to facilitate the most interesting and
valuable discussion possible.

The conference will also be offering a short course on oil spill
response, where each participant will be exposed to the on-the-ground
experience of how to address an oil spill on land and on water.

What if I can only come for a portion of the event?

Participants are expected to attend the event in its entirety. If you are unable to attend a certain segment of the event due to extraordinary circumstances, please contact Sarah at sarah@coppermoon.ca.

Are meals provided at the event?

Yes, meals will be provided at the event, including: – March 25th: Breakfast, Lunch, snacks, and dinner – March 26th: Breakfast, snacks and lunch.

Dietary needs of those of those who have allergies or food restrictions (e.g. celiac, vegetarian, lactose intolerant) have been incorporated into meal planning. Please indicate your needs in your registration form.

Will travel costs be covered?

To help facilitate attendance, travel awards will be available to out of town participants based on distances traveled. The amount of the award will depend on the number of participants travelling from out of town. We anticipate awards will range from $100-$400. An individual’s travel award may or may not cover their full cost of traveling to attend the event.

Will accommodation costs be covered?

For those participants who have registered for the event and checked in at registration, accommodations at the Best Western Premier Prestige Oceanfront Resort will be covered.

Participants are responsible for any incidentals or additional fees (internet, movies etc.) incurred during their stay.

Accommodations booked at other hotels will not be covered.

Who makes my travel arrangements?

Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.

Accommodations will be arranged and confirmed through the conference registration process. Please complete the online registration firm on this website to ensure your hotel room is reserved. A final confirmation of your accommodation reservation will be provided after you have completed the conference registration.
